Rebuild motor GP1200, check crank shaft condition

This time just top rebuild but better to check crank shaft conditon.

Inspect crank shaft degree of twist.

This crank shaft is pass of inspection. This is very important when rebuild motor.

Rebuild motor GP1200

This ski is 1998model Yamaha GP1200. This GP1200 is still popular here in Australia because good for surf ride as right weight, powerful motor and small hull.

I heard piston slap noise when service this ski and now due to replace pistons.

This GP1200 needs replace piston every 100hr.

This customer requested me a rebuild so I dismantled motor.

Amazing! all pistons are damaged as engine was still run and all cylinder had good compression because piston rings are not damaged. If this customer keep use more with this conditon may occur to more damaged such as piston will be broken pieces and then broken crank shaft  and crank case. It is so lucky to find problem before big damage.

Flushing connector,,,,,

When I serviced YAMAHA FX-HO,
I found bilge hose came off from strainer and that was damaged by coupling.
Bilge strainer is locate under the coupling.

I found damaged piece of hose and tube on the bottom of engine room.

 I removed coupling cover for replace damaged hose then I heard sound something fallen.

It was flushing connector, I found just under the coupling.

Other side was damaged like a cut half.

So customer dropped this connector before and when he ride may be after jump or something this connector stuck between coupling and coupling cover like a above picture. Also then this connector hit and pick of bilge hose.

Carbys disaster

Hi every one,
I show some picture of carbys from GP1200R today.
This ski was sitting for long time more than 6 month and now engine won't start.
Inside of carbys are damaged by corrosion very much.
Must be water sitting inside of fuel tank.

Pain in the ass !

Hi everyone, how is your jet ski life.
Here is Gold Coast keep good weather last one week but last night thunder storm was heavy rain.....

By the way I did jet pump service of Yamaha FX-HO but it was pain in the ass because snapped bolt of ride plate fixing bolt. I still hard to understand why Yamaha use hard type thread lock for these bolts. They should use silicon for these bolts or should use more strong bolts. When bolt snapped needs extra Labor for repair and remove broken bolts. This is very much pain in the ass mate!

Bolt was snapped 1 of 4 bolts and  another 3 bolts won't removed as I felt it will snap if go hard.

I dismounted ride plate but it was not easy.

Removed all rear exhaust sys and hoses for access to insert plate

Water box and exhaust hoses.

3 bolt were unscrewed safely because I heated top of insert nut.

Broken bolt stuck on insert plate.

Also pump fitting bolt was snapped,,,,,

It was so hard to removed broken bolt.

Total I spent 4 hr to these unnecessary job.

Not Good!

Hi everyone, sorry I didn't up date since new years day.

Since then it had bad news first, I was turning to age 44 at 4th I'm getting old man! second, this week Flooding tragic happened Toowoomba, Ipswitch and Brisbane. Some my customers are living Ipswitch and Brisbane, just I hope everyones safe and I'm feel sorry to all flooding victims.

My friends sent me e-mails and call me from Japan for worry about my safety. I'm fine, fortunately here is Gold Coast was not happend flooding.

Where is sunny days summer?

Ultra 300 is just not only power up. This new Ultra has new Super charger sys, Trim sys, Cruise control sys, Fuel eco mode and etc.

. New VX serise with 1.8L motor from Yamaha. Motor is naturally-aspirated but light weight hull makes good acceleration and top speed.

New GTI from Sea Doo, new hull and come with iBR (brake and reverse sys), iTC (throttle control sys)

Where is summer?

Hi guys, it was rainy weekend wasn't it?
It is December,where is summer?
5days no sunny day since Wednesday  rain, rain, rain,,

Still not much sunny days since September.
La Nina, this is the cause of rainy days to much.
I miss so much sunny day.
My wife always complain this rainy weather because it can't hung the laundry out.

Also this U-150 had more problem,,,,, 11years old ski now time to much repairs.

Engine mount was broken,,,,

Another water leak from pump duct shaft tube as locate yellow circle.

Glue came off from duct.

Front view of above pic after removed shaft and bearing housing. Can you see glue came off from duct as show yellow line?

This tube came off so easy. If this tube come off  completely may cause ski sink so quick.
